Access Statement For Edwardian Dreams Guest House, Worthing

Introduction

We aim to cater for the needs of all who visit Edwardian Dreams.

We have 5 guest bedrooms, 1 double room and 1 twin room of which are on the ground floor. Both have large doors but unfortunately the en suites are not large enough to accommodate wheelchairs. The further 3 bedrooms are all on the first floor level.

The following statement is a summary of our provision.

Pre-Arrival

We are 1 kilometre from Worthing city centre - a walk of approximately 10 minutes.

There is a bus stop around the corner and a frequent bus service to West Sussex.

The main train station is 5 minutes away by car.

There are a number of local taxi services that have accessible taxis. We can supply contact numbers so that you may make a booking if required.

Arrival & Car Parking Facilities

Please advise us of your anticipated arrival time so that we can be sure we are here to welcome you.

On arrival, we ask all guests to call at our front entrance. We have two gateways into the front, guests may use either.

There is room to park 5 or 6 cars together with free parking on the road in the unlikely event that there is no room off-road.

We are able to assist guests with luggage if this is required.

Main Entrance & Reception

The outer porch entrance has a step leading up to the front door and another one inside at the inner door.
We have a temporary ramp available on request.

The front door is always locked but we do have a bell press in the door canopy at a height of 126cm. The door is 98cm wide.

Entrance is into our tiled (original Edwardian tiles) inner porch and then into the Reception Hall (approx. 3m. x 7m.)

On arrival, guests are required to complete our Registration Form and are then shown to their rooms and our facilities are explained.

Seating is provided in our entrance hall.

Public Areas - General (Internal)

Our Dining Room and 2 of our guest rooms are on the ground floor.

The covering on the stairs and upstairs corridors is short-pile fitted carpet.

There are 11 stairs leading to a small landing followed by a further 7 stairs to the upper landing and first floor bedrooms (3 en-suite rooms).

The stairs are 18cm high, 27cm deep and 100cm wide.

Public Areas - WC

. There is no public WC available.

Dining Room

Breakfast is served in our Dining Room on the ground floor and is accessed from our Reception Hall.

There is a chiller cabinet in the room which maintains the dairy products and the fruit, cheeses and juices at a suitable temperature.

The entry is level and the door width is 80cm.

A child's high chair is available if required.

Vegetarian, vegan, gluten free and all other diets can be catered for.

The dining room with its lovely attached sun room doubles as a guest lounge.

Laundry

Laundry facilities are not available on the premises but there is a launderette within a short walking distance

Worthing Shops & Town Centre

With the town centre just a 10 minute walk and the seafront a 7 minute walk, we are ideally located to provide the quiet of a suburban location with the proximity desirable to these amenities.

Leisure Facilities & Outdoor Facilities

Worthing, having the advantage of most facilities being centrally located, has the seafront promenade, public swimming pool and gym, bowling green, café, gardens, and children's play equipment all within a few minutes of each other.

Guest Bedrooms

Edwardian Dreams features central heating throughout the house.

The temperature of each guest bedroom is controlled by thermostatic controls on the radiators.

The beds are made with all-season duvets, and the thickness is adjusted to suit the time of year.

Each bedroom has a hospitality tray with tea, coffee, hot chocolate and a bottle of water.

In each room there is a hair dryer, a clock radio and a combi-TV with remote control.

A large video library is available for guest use.

Each room has storage space which usually consists of a wardrobe, chest of drawers and bedside cabinet.

!st Floor

Room 1 is our family room with twin beds, a double bed-settee and an extra fold-up bed if required which still leaves plenty of room to move around.
This is a
very large double aspect room with a full en-suite bathroom.

Room 2 is a large room with twin beds and a full en-suite bathroom.

Room 3 features a double bed with a full en-suite bathroom.

Ground floor

Room 4 has twin beds with a shower room en-suite.

Room 5 features a double bed with en-suite shower room.

Grounds and Gardens

The front of the guest house features a double entrance leading to off street parking surrounded by well tended flower beds.

The rear garden is unfortunately not available to guests.

Additional Information

Children are warmly welcomed.

Mobile phone reception is generally good.

We regret that pets and smoking are not permitted on the premises.
This alleviates any concerns guests may have regarding allergies.

There is a fire extinguisher in the entrance hall and on the upstairs landing.
We are able to use the 2 stairways leading to 2 front doors should evacuation be necessary.
The fire alarm rings continuously if evacuation is needed.
If you need assistance in the event of an emergency (e.g. hearing impairment), please let us know on arrival and we will ensure that you are evacuated safely.

A chiller in the dining room is available for guests to store everything from medication to beer chilled.

A selection of local information is available in our displays in the entrance hall.

There is a folder in each guest bedroom which gives tourist information about Worthing and the surrounding West Sussex area.

Further information about routines and emergencies is displayed on the inside of each bedroom door.
